Variants

Whole genome sequencing is performed on each sample collected at a wastewater treatment plant. Variants can be identified based on the mutations found in the results of the whole genome sequencing. If a sample does not have any variants detected, it does not mean no variants exist in that wastewater treatment plant, it just means the variants were not detected in this specific sample.

A guide to reading the heatmap:

Here is an example of how to read the heatmap. The square highlighted with an orange box represents the results for the sample collected on August 15, 2022 from Upper Brays. The square is blue, which is the color of detection in this heatmap. Lastly, the heatmap title tells us which variant results are reflected in the heatmap, so this heatmap is for the BA.5 variant.
